Description: This week’s readings analyze particular periods in Toronto’s history, with a specific focus on the city’s growth and planning policies. Addressing the formation of Metro Toronto, citizen resistance to top down planning policies in the 1960s and 1970s and the contemporary introduction of comprehensive, regional planning policy each piece raises questions about different strategies of managing urban growth.
